We truly enjoyed a wonderful evening filled with such beautiful music by Ma Xiaohui, Nicholas Shaneyfelt (piano) and Steven Atkinson (cello), especially the Air on a G string, Adios Nonino and crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. We were also delighted by the performance of the Notre Dame Chinese Percussion Ensemble.

According to the program note by the ND Department of Music, Ma Xiaohui is “one of China’s premier traditional artists, world renowned Shanghai erhu musician…, perhaps most readily recognized for her duet with famed cellist, Yo-Yo Ma, on the Oscar-winning soundtrack for the file Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.”

Indeed, it’s a fine Chinese culture introduction, including fashion! For us, it’s also a review of our culture heritage.
