Eighteen Discovery Middle School students and eight Penn High School students qualified for the MathCON math competition finials held at UIC Forum in Chicago. MathCON is a grade-specific subject math contest.

There were over 40,000 5th through 12th grade students in 380 schools from 41 states participated the online qualifying test. Up to 100 top students in each grade earned a place in the finals.

Three Discovery students won medals in the finals: Grace Waddell,7th Grade Bronze; Lyvia Li and Seunghoon Sun, 8th Grade Silver.

Five Penn students won medals and National Championships: Corey Wang, 9th Grade Bronze; Mason Lee , 11th Grade Bronze; Tingyi Lu, 9th Grade Gold; David Kim, 11th Grade Nation Champion and Jack Bao, 12th National Champion.

Penn was also the 1st place winner of the high school division.

Congratulations to all students, teachers and parents.

Thanks to Mrs. Lebiedzinski and Mr. Grounds for spending their Saturday with the students and their work throughout the school year.
